A young man is forced to choose between his fiance and his families' hotel. Outside a police station twenty years ago, Marshall Pike needed his grandfather. He was seven years old and his parents were dead in a car crash. Although the boy sared expectantly into the Manhattan darkness, the old man never showed. Years later, Marshall has done well despite the hard hand fate dealt him as a boy.
He is getting a raise at his marketing job and will soon marry Kitty Lehuesen, the most sought-after girl in his Brooklyn neighborhood. Marshall discovers that his long lost grandfather has suddenly past away in Arizona.
He and his brother fly west ot dissolve the estate and collect Marshall's inheritance but in Arizona they find they are left the Catalina Inn, a historic landmark.
