An English "road movie" in which a young Liverpudlian (Lenny Henry) meets up with an American Air Force deserter (John Shea) in a comedy chase across England.
Dobie Grey's 'Drift Away' has never been covered better than the version sung by the DJs in the Air Force base, and there are some great lines, such as the moment when the two heroes are trying to chat up a hotelier's daughter by passing themselves off as two members of a well-known soul group.
HENRY: Does the name Earth, Wind and Fire mean anything to you?
SHEA: Yeah, meet 'Wind' why don't you!
